Pediatric cardiac surgery survival rates reflect the percentage of patients who survived to 30 days after surgery and discharge from the hospital.

Pediatric cardiac surgery mortality rates reflect the percentage of patients who died within 30 days of surgery or prior to discharge from the hospital. This is a different way of looking at the same data displayed above in the survival table.

The STS-EACTS Mortality Category, or “STAT” Category is a method of estimating the risk of mortality for each procedure. Procedures are assigned a STAT Category that ranges from 1 to 5. STAT Category 1 cases have the lowest risk of mortality and STAT Category 5 cases have the highest risk of mortality. The STAT scores allow us to compare our outcomes to hospitals all over the county based on the complexity of the surgeries each hospital is performing.
